Before you get started and play Texas Hold’em poker, you must first understand several basic rules of the game. That is why we are going to discuss how Texas Hold’em poker is played in this article. Let’s get started, shall we?
The two players to the left of the dealer will have to place blind bets (small blind and big blind). Every player will then be dealt two cards face down and the first betting round starts. Betting starts with the player to the left of big blind and continues clockwise. Calling the bet at this stage means betting the amount of big blind, although a raise or fold is also an option.
Once the betting round is finished, three cards are dealt face up on the table; these cards are the community cards that everyone can use to construct a hand. This stage is called the flop. Another betting session starts after the flop, followed by one extra card dealt face up on the table (the turn).
After seeing the turn, every player gets a chance to bet. Based on the relative strength of your hand, you can choose to fold or raise the bet. The river, another card dealt face up on the table, followed by another betting session are the next steps of the game.
After completing all these stages, players can then show their hands in order. This stage is called the showdown. The player that constructs strongest hand wins the pot money. The round is completed, and the game continues with another round.
